Field note: pool excavation and private lines

Composite backyard scenario: no address, no pool builder named. Focus is how we frame private electric and irrigation risk before a deep dig.

Scope & limitations

Educational only. Homeowner expectations: residential GPR expectations.

Setting
Suburban lot with vinyl fence sections removed for access, known dog run path, and overhead service drop on the opposite street frontage.
Objective
Map likely private conductors crossing the proposed pool shell and bore path for equipment—after applicable 811 workflow for public facilities.
Methods
Perimeter loops and diagonal ties across the shell; shallow high-frequency passes near the pad where turf was stripped; photo log of valves and boxes.
Constraints
Plastic irrigation laterals yielded intermittent echoes; report segments that corridor as “possible / not for depth certification.”
Outcome
Color-coded sketch layer for the excavator plus PDF limitations referencing moisture after recent watering—see soil moisture note.
Lessons
Fence post shadows matter: schedule GPR before new posts go in; if the pad already has conduit sleeved under it, say so during intake.
